What is the future of so-called "thin wrapper" apps around #AI?
Is this just a phase that will go away as the market matures? Or is the friction of the textual user interface actually the major brake on AI adoption, meaning there is significant value in "just" being a more user-friendly interface on top of the command line?

Das ist ein Scheinproblem.
Die Moralpanik um "Schwarzfahrer" und die Nötigung durch Kontrolleure könnten sofort aufhören, wenn man den #ÖPNV fahrscheinlos gestalten würde, so wie das anderswo schon der Fall ist.

A student in their final semester who has been checking out a laptop from us every week their whole time here just came up to return, not renew, one because they could finally afford their own and they wrote up a testimonial to talk about the positive impact it had for them.
There is a lot, way too much, bullshit at my institution, but these little moments where we get to really see what the library can do for a person is what keeps me in the fight.

Does anybody have a connection at Signal who could receive some urgent app design feedback? The app has several very specific problems / limitations / design quirks that are causing major headaches for neighbor groups trying to communicate here in Minneapolis.
(I’ll eventually try to write up some feedback through normal channels so it can go through the normal user feedback pipeline — but I’m sure any fixes that arrive that way will arrive far too late to be useful to us, so I’m not even bothering now. If there’s any chance of having some issues prioritized, I’d sure appreciate it.)
