So, I see Wikipedia has bowed to the slop-peddlers protection racket. "Let us violate your consent and steal from you, or else we'll DDOS your site with scrapers forever."

And now a towering human achievement is irretrievably tainted by collusion with the slopbros.

"AI" is a grift, a consent-violation machine, a protection racket all rolled into one. It destroys everything it touches.

Do you know any new open source projects that deserve recognition?

Projects that are:
- Solving real world problems and driving technical innovation
- Improving science, research or medicine
- Challenging long standing platforms or paradigms
- Just super nerdy and doing something novel!

If you do, please share them and perhaps we can help them get the attention they deserve. 🧡

"an extraordinarily interesting video that touches on a load of great topics"

No, really! Someone just wrote this comment about my conversation with Marco.

This gives you an idea what it would be like to work with me. What do you think?

(Watching myself is nerve-wracking and sometimes even cringe, but I'm really quite happy with this one!)

I'm writing C++. I have a struct

struct ExampleStruct {
int32_t i;
bool a;
bool b;
}

I know I'm running on a modern CPU such as x86_64 or ARM64, and I know I'm using a modern compiler such as recent clang, recent gcc, or recent msvc.

The byte offsets of "a" and "b", relative to the start of ExampleStruct, are:

There is a new European Mail Transfer Agent: Remails. It's on GitHub, written in Rust, and hosted in Europe.

Read Max and Michiel's blog on how we built Remails from a single binary proof-of-concept to a highly available, scalable cloud application: tweedegolf.nl/en/blog/197/rema

At Vivaldi we continue to make choices that are different from our competitors. We have chosen to not integrate AI or crypto, but instead we integrate a wealth of other features, based on the wishes of our users.

We are a European company with most of the team based in Norway and Iceland, a few around Europe and a couple in the US.

Our servers are based in Iceland.

If you want to get away from Big Tech, maybe give us a try? If you are already using Vivaldi, maybe introduce your friends?

Have a nice day!

politik, forschung, "innovationen", meinung

"mit digitalen Innovationen Schritt zu halten" als Totschlagargument ist kompletter Quatsch.

Die meisten dieser "Innovationen" sind menschenverachtender Mist.

Da hinterherzuhecheln führt ins Verderben.

In sinnvollen Bereichen sind hiesige Forschungseinrichtungen keinesfalls "abgehängt".
