Jorge Moreira da Silva, Executive Director of the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS), said on Thursday that each person in Gaza is surrounded by 30 tonnes of rubble. He noted that “Gaza contains more than 60 million tonnes of debris, the capacity of nearly 3,000 container ships.”

He warned, “It is likely to take over 7 years to clear this rubble,” calling the destruction “overwhelming.” Da Silva added the “humanitarian crisis is deepening” and that “the people in Gaza are exhausted, traumatized, and overwhelmed,” with winter rains “doubling people’s misery and desperation.”

I have some friends where most of our interactions is just sharing random memes back and forth, and maybe some people might think that's weird, but getting a meme from them is a little highlight of my day making me smile, and I hope they feel the same way

Age verification is spreading like cancer.

First they came for adults site and social media; now they are already discussing about putting VPNs and app stores behind 🇬🇧🇦🇺

What’s sold as “online safety” means via IDs checks or face scans.

Privacy & anonymity protect journalists, whistleblowers & activists.

We must fight against age verification - or the free web dies!

First they came for Adult sites
And I did not speak out
Because I was not interested in Adult sites
Then they came for Social Media
And I did not speak out
Because I was not interested in Social Media
Then they came for the VPNs
And I did not speak out
Because I was not interested in VPNs
Then they came for chat apps
And I did not speak out
Because I was not  interested in chat apps
Then they locked the whole web behind ID verification
And there was no one left
To speak up against this

The Government Media Office in Gaza reports that at least half a million Palestinians are displaced in the streets as Israel continues to evade its obligations to allow the entry of more relief supplies.

The Israeli army has also expanded the yellow line and committed over 1,200 violations since the ceasefire began.

Yesterday, Israeli warplanes bombed multiple areas across the Gaza Strip, murdering more than ten Palestinians.

Remember how we were all supposed to be "left behind" if we don't jump on the Metaverse bandwagon? Especially businesses?

Yeah, about that:
theverge.com/tech/863209/meta-

But today we should treat absolutely seriously all the bullshit about "being left behind" if we don't adopt "AI"! 🤡

Today I thought, what if I take the nix flake I use to manage my dotfiles and machine setup, and just make an ISO out of it, and then flash it onto a USB stick. I can now basically plug in my "full setup" in any computer I happen to find anywhere.

My SSH, AGE and GPG keys are on my Yubikey. I literally bring up a pinentry dialogue as soon as desktop-session starts (Hyprland), which uses my Yubikey to decrypt secrets, and connect to my Tailnet using an Auth Key.

The whole nonisolated / @.concurrent changes in Swift 6.2 still don’t really sit right with me.
It feels MORE confusing to me that an async call will be on the same actor as its caller… That the behaviour has totally flipped, determined by a compiler flag… it’s just confusing.
