My kids used to have this deal whereby I’d pay them 1 cent for each leaf they retrieved from the bottom of the pool.

Later we got a pool cleaning robot (dubbed “suckbot”) and it removed the leaves instead.

So don’t tell me robots won’t replace us. They’ve already stolen my kids’ jobs.

Building decentralized alternatives is no longer the problem. The struggle is finding a way to handle the money without middlemen. The current systems prove people will pay. I think they can just be asked to, not forced to. If only the systems were as easy to use, especially if they knew much more of it would go to whose work they appreciate.

i just clicked through three warning dialogues, a passkey prompt, and entered my password, all to delete a fork on github.

i realised almost immediately after deleting it that i had an open pull request from that fork, and shouldn't have deleted it.

i am the user that designers worry about.
