- they are designed to centralise power in the hands of very few people who are also objectively the worst people

OpenAI boldly says: "Our mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence—AI systems that are generally smarter than humans—benefits all of humanity."
We're not at AGI yet, but if we ever get there, they want to ensure that _thinking entities_ will not be free. (Like Star Wars droids that are bought and sold.)
