'Schnee und Eis nah dran' ' Snow and Ice closeup'

Oh I have to post this photo again. Sorry if you've seen it in the past already.

But lying on the ground on top of a summit, waiting for the next gust of wind blowing the snow into my direction... this day will stay in my memories! - To me it is my absolute closeup of snow and ice.
(up to you if you judge the ice being the snow or my finger tips)

A dynamic winter scene unfolds in this close-up shot, capturing the raw energy of a sudden snowfall. Snowflakes swirl and dance in the air, creating a flurry of activity against the backdrop of a clear blue sky. The snowflakes, caught in mid-fall, add a sense of movement and liveliness to the scene.

In the foreground, a patch of snow-covered ground is visible, with hints of frozen grass and small rocks peeking through the white blanket. The snow appears freshly fallen, its surface smooth and untouched except for the gentle disturbances caused by the ongoing snowfall.

“We won't be able to obtain or sustain a just environment for our next generations until the U.S. and the other colonial empires, as systems and as governments, until they fall, we won't be able to live a normal life. Don't lie to yourselves.”

Palestinian journalist Bisan Owda says Israel violated the Gaza ceasefire over 1,000 times in just three months, a level of aggression that would never be tolerated if carried out by Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, or any other nation.

Owda argued that Western powers, led by the United States, demand blind obedience to their “agreements” while ignoring Israel’s repeated violations.

She emphasized that Israel’s military actions depend entirely on U.S. support, making the genocide a U.S.-backed genocide, and that regional conflicts are driven by Washington and its allies.

Owda warned that true peace and justice in Palestine cannot exist while colonial empires, especially the U.S. and its allied powers, remain dominant.

Citizens of the Sea by Nancy Knowlton, 2012

Wonderous Creatures from the Census of Marine Life

National Geographic underwater photographers and the Census of Marine Life capture the astonishing diversity and the most intriguing organisms in the ocean in this riveting book, by marine scientist Nancy Knowlton.

As you read lively vignettes about sea creatures’ names, defenses, migration, mating habits, and more, you’ll be amazed at wonders like . . .

The almost inconceivable number of creatures in the marine world. From the bounty of microbes in one drop of seawater, we can calculate that there are more individuals in the oceans than stars in the universe.
· The sophisticated sensory abilities that help these animals survive. For many, the standard five senses are just not enough.
· The incredible distances that seabirds and other species cover. Some will feed in both Arctic and Antarctic waters within a single year.
· The odd relationships common in the marine world. From a dental hygienist for fish to a walrus’s one-night stand, you’ll find beauty, practicality, and plenty of eccentricity in sea-life socialization.

Brilliantly photographed and written in an easygoing style, Citizens of the Sea will inform and enchant you with close-up documentation of the fascinating facts of life in the ocean realm.

Having a C++ hell problem.

There's a namespace named "vendor", containing a class named "ClassName", containing an enum named "Status", containing a value named "Success".

There's code that compiles on Windows with MSVC and on MacOS with Clang. But on Linux with GCC, it fails; if I say vendor::ClassName::Success it says "expected unqualified-id before numeric constant" on Success and if I say "vendor::ClassName::Status::Success" it says "expected unqualified-id before 'int'" on Status.

Organizers Log:

I have been looking for a new location for FediCon 2026.

The location we used for FediCon 2025 is very nice — but also very expensive. (I paid for it out of my own pocket.)

I am trying to find a new location that is either less expensive or, if possible, free.

I'd like to try to keep the ticket prices low. And, one of the biggest things that goes into the ticket price is the cost of the location

I found out recently about Bunnyrom, the program that every knock-off Tamagotchi runs.

bunnyrom.neocities.org/

I love the mystery of it, how despite its ubiquity, nobody seems to know its provenance.

I hate that it's ruined the mystery of the unplayed knock-off. Before I knew about this, I could look at a knock-off Tamagotchi on the shelf, or in an online store, and wonder about it. Yes, of course it'll be bad, but it might be bad in a new interesting way??

Nope, it's just Bunnyrom again.
