Pressure on Senators •is working•. Previously head-in-sand centrist Senators are actually coming out to vote against ICE funding. Their positions are still weak and insufficient, and more need to cave to pressure — but they are visibly buckling.

Again, we should not and must not wait on elected officials to save us — they will not — but we can and should deploy pressure on them as a strategic tool in moments when that can be useful.

Now is such a moment. KEEP IT UP.

1/

My message to Senators:

❝The correct amount of funding for not just ICE but the •entire Department of Homeland Security• is zero. ZERO. You heard me: the entire agency. Under current leadership, it is off the rails. It is dangerous. It it a menace.

“More training” is a pathetic non-answer; that just means more money. These murderers are trained; they are just monsters. Don’t say “better oversight.” Don’t say “more reforms.” Pull the rug. Switch it off. • Shut • it • down • NOW •

If you have to shut down every airport in the country because the TSA budget is in there too, then you shut down every damned airport in the country. If you have to shut down the federal government again, you shut it down. Your inaction is sleepwalking the country into civil war. SHUT. IT. DOWN.❞

Something I noticed lately is people having at least separate sections on their website if not a separate site entirely to split blog posts/articles from short thoughts/social media posts. Do people like that for the separate RSS feeds so you can ignore the short stuff? Hate it because now it's 2 feeds to follow if you wants everything from someone? Don't care since it all just funnels into a single place here and you don't use RSS feeds?

I left a pot with the dregs of some stew out where a very large dog could reach it (which is to say, anywhere). I heard a loud clatter and discovered the plushie Mr. Sloth at the scene of the crime, covered in stew.

Mr. Sloth claims he's been framed... :neodog_amogus:

Age verification is no longer exclusive to accessing explicit content, soon we will have to verify ourselves for everything we do online.

In this video, we explain why could mean:

❌ Less anonymity
❌ More surveillance
❌ A less free internet

🎥 Watch it here: inv.nadeko.net/watch?v=Fu6xJnb

At Tuta, we say no to age verification, & yes to privacy. ❤️ 🔒

In a sad way, slop is emblematic of our time. Without humanity and beauty. Actively undermining societal values. Worthless. Made to be consumed within seconds and last only an instant. Created at the cost of our wellbeing and the environment. Forced upon every aspect of our lives by capitalists solely for their profit.

We really need different times!

@fuleloKriszta Satori US TikTok is a stalking tool that collects everything about the users life: movements, race, gender, location, employment, preferences, …… literally everything the user uses, says, does. It’s like having a 24/7 stalker attached: the company can use, abuse, distort, sell that data to whoever pays - insurance, university, employer, healthcare provider, police etc… literally anyone on TikTok USA should leave it asap.

Not sure where this is going, but I've made isometric libraries a bunch of times. This is the 2026 version. I'm never totally happy with the api for defining the different textures. You either have a set list of predefined textures, which winds up being limited, or a way to draw custom ones, which winds up being overly complex. Or both I guess. We'll see where this goes.

essentially, i put up with HN because the reach is worth dealing with people who are unpleasant to be around but lobsters just has a bunch of people who end up making threads on the topics they care about insufferable it's not even about disagreement vs agreement, it's about the *how*
