Django Rusty Templates Since September 2024, I (and some collaborators) have been building a reimplementation of Django’s templating language in Rust, called Django Rusty Templates. During this process, we have discovered several weird edge-cases and bugs, some of which I’ve talked about before (Part 1, Part 2). The {% now %} tag The {% now %} tag is provided by Django to display the current date or time. It uses a format specifier language designed for compatibility with PHP, which feels like an odd decision in retrospect, since most Python programmers are used to the strftime style formatting provided by the Python datetime module.

lifehack: use IPv6 addresses as passwords: they have letters, numbers, special characters, can contain caps, and are long enough.

If you accidentally paste it somewhere noone will suspect a thing.

Bonushack: you can put a label in DNS as a password reminder!

I’ve documented a clean, native way to integrate FreeBSD 15 into a FreeIPA realm. No heavy dependencies, no Python shims, just pure Kerberos (GSSAPI) and nslcd.

We get full SSH SSO, automated home directories, and centralized sudo rules using standard BSD tools. Pure, stateless, and sane.

Only 17% of Austrian MPs are still on X.
Compare that to Sweden, 66%, the Netherlands, 63%, and the EU, 58%, that gap is striking.

Finland is often cited as a leader in digital literacy and counter-disinformation. It makes me curious how Finnish politicians assess X today, as a neutral platform, or as an active disinformation risk.

Which European country will be the first to seriously lead by example and walk away from this disinformation machine?

Die Passwort-Hitlisten stammen fast immer aus Infostealer-Leaks und sogenannten Combolists, die - sofern Klartextpasswörter enthalten sind - nichts weiter sind als aggregierte Infostealer-Leaks. Übrigens: auch das "150 Millionen Passwörter!!!1"-Ding vom WE war so ein PR-Nothingburger, deswegen findet Ihr es auch nicht bei heise.
Auch IMHO schwierig: das HPI nutzt ".de" als Demarkationslinie, obgleich sowohl Googlemail und GMX, ja selbst Mailbox.org nicht nur .de als TLD verwenden.

The following statement was issued by the Universities in Rojava/Northern and Eastern Syria (University of Rojava, Kobani University, and University of Al-Sharq) on 22 January 2026.

We call on you, wherever you are, to stand with Rojava. Raise your voice. Organize on your campuses, in your unions, and in your communities. Use your positions, however limited they may feel, to push for action, to demand accountability, and to refuse silence. Strengthen the networks of solidarity that make resistance possible. Stand up for the revolutionary aims of freedom, women’s liberation, ecological life, and democratic communal life. Your solidarity is part of our self-defense, and it can help shift the balance and prevent yet another genocide in the region.
