Fun story time!

Back when I worked at GOG (over 8 years ago) as their Linux gaming expert the company hired a highly qualified Linux engineer for the GOG Galaxy team. As far as I know the poor fellow never got to do anything Linux-related in his job. Still, he was a fun friend to talk Linux with.

There were a couple of us Linux gamers back then at GOG. Unfortunately not among the decision makers 🙂.

イラスト話　ちょっとなやみ

自分としてはおてほんにしているイラストレーターさんを参考に描いている、描き続けているつもりなのですけども（おてほん、といつもぼかして書くのは、やたら名前を出すと迷惑になるかもって判断ですね）

自分がとても影響を受けてる方なので、描いてるとこのとなりに並べたりして、資料やモチベ維持などにしているわけですね。

ただ、自分以外の誰かが見て「おお〇〇さんに似てるわ」「なんか影響受けてそう」とか受け取れないと意味がないんじゃないか。そんなことを思ったわけです。

となると、寄せようとする自分のやり方がどっか間違えてるんじゃないかとか、自分では部分的に成功しているつもりが客観的には失敗しているのではないかとか、そういうネガティブなことを考えてしまうのですよね​:blob_awww:​

We're tired of judges getting getting credit for saying or writing the right things in response to ICE abuses — including of journalists and their sources — but not doing anything about it.

The chief federal judge in says the admin has failed to comply with orders to hold hearings for detained immigrants & ordered the head of to appear Friday to explain why he shouldn’t be held in .

In an order Monday, Chief Judge Patrick J. Schiltz said , the acting director of ICE, must appear personally in court. Schlitz took the admin to task over its handling of bond hearings for immigrants it has detained.

So, I am trying to hold an idea of Canada in my mind where the story of Italian Canadians (and West Indians and Maghrebi and Ukrainian and, and, and) is as foundational and collectively held as the story of the Great Peace and the Acadian expulsion or the national railroad. If there is a "we" here, as a Canadian, it's my story too. It feels strange and uncomfortable, which is why I started this poll. And, why, I think, it has so few responses. Anyway, I am Yes, but it's hard.

@evanEvan Prodromou I recently created a "coat of arms" for my old high school / for reasons unrelated to this thread / the four circles are meant to represent plates around a dinner table / one for the first nations, one for the settlers (colonizers), one for everyone who has arrived since "first contact" and one for all the people who have simply been born in to it / it felt more appropriate than the standard fare english-french catholic-protestant symbolism of the city's current flag / or bagels, obviously

Hey @fediforum when I clicked on the link you just sent me in the email you just sent about your un-workshop on "Growing the Open Social Web" my email client warned me that it was a tracking link.

As I said last year,

"The "Open Social Web" is a term surveillance capitalism companies and their friends have been using since at least 2008 either as a synonym for "the Fediverse" or "the fediverses". FediForum used to be about "the Fediverse", and I'm not quite sure when they changed their focus."

Thanks for providing such a great example of the surveillance capitalism-friendly nature of so many supporters of the "Open Social Web"!
