Since the 1930s, the scale of scientific endeavors has grown exponentially. Machines have become larger, ambitions bolder. The first particle accelerator cost less than one hundred dollars and could be held in its creator’s palm, while its descendant, the Large Hadron Collider, cost ten billion dollars and is seventeen miles in circumference. Scientists have invented nuclear weapons, put a man on the moon, and examined nature at the subatomic scale—all through Big Science, the industrial-scale research paid for by governments and corporations that have driven the great scientific projects of our time. The birth of Big Science can be traced to Berkeley, California, nearly nine decades ago, when a resourceful young scientist with a talent for physics and an even greater talent for promotion pondered his new invention and declared, “I’m going to be famous!” Ernest Orlando Lawrence’s cyclotron would revolutionize nuclear physics, but that was only the beginning of its impact. It would change our understanding of the basic building blocks of nature. It would help win World War II. Its influence would be felt in academia and international politics. It was the beginning of Big Science. This is the incredible story of how one invention changed the world and of the man principally responsible for it all. Everyone I've talked to who works there is considering finding another job or early retirement.

I don't really know what the solution is here. Definitely Cook has to go, but so does every other executive as well as the board. They're all (or at least almost all) complicit in this.

최근 영화나 애니메이션의 리액션 영상을 10여개 봤는데
서양사람들은 반응이 다채로워서 좋았지만(별거 아닌걸로 엉엉 울거나 못보겠다고 눈 가리고 ㅋㅋㅋ) 보면서도 내용을 잘 이해 못하고 있는 소리를 자주해서 사람 답답하게 한다.

동양사람들 특히 한국사람들은 내용 이해는 잘 하지만, 계속 분석하려고 하고, 감정이 그리 없음. 여자들이 하는 반응도 놀라거나 주인공 좀 걱정하는 정도.

침중기라고 아주 예전에 중국 인터넷에서 돌았던 글이 있음 매년 운세를 예언해둔글인데 작년에 알게됬고 그냥 번역해서 보관하고 있었는데 대충 뭐 중국 기준으로 어느해는 농사가 잘되고 어느해는 질병이 돌고 그런걸 아마도 관찰해서 기록해둔 그런 글임 60갑자 3주기 이렇게 잡아서 주역 기반으로 만든것 같음. 그런데... 을사년 (작년 2월-올해2월)에 이런 내용이 있었음. "군사가 남쪽에서 오고, 장군이 고을을 떠난다." 근데 요 몇일전에 시진핑 바로 밑에 있던 장군 장유사가 잡혀갔죠 허허...
