RE: mathstodon.xyz/@anna/115963145

Today at dance class

Them: eerm… did I chase you away last week?

Me: ya, you did, but I’m glad that you told me you weren’t feeling well, so I had the opportunity to leave. That’s my rule: if somebody tells me they’re feeling sick, I leave.

Them: ah no but it’s good that you left, because I had a really bad fever on the two days after class!

Me: it’s good that *I* left?

Them: uhuh!

Another person: yes! Really good thing that you left, because I also got a fever last Friday!

Me: 👁️👄👁️

I mean… I’m glad that they connected the dots but I don’t quite get why the consensus is that it’s good that *I* left?

Oh well. To their credit: both tried to stay at distance this class.

At least I had some stale bread, which I turned into a quick microwave apple-walnut bread-and-butter pudding yesterday, and I can have some of the leftover pudding as a snack when I get home 😋

Hey peeps! Anyone in PDX interested in a fun experiment being run right now might consider doing a study of heavy metal levels in the blood of people gassed by ICE during recent and upcoming marches. We know many gas grenades have heavy metals in them, so there may be a publishable public health concern here. Just a thought after recent events…

⚠️ Password cannot contain that many special characters. I know you think it's a good idea to generate a 64 character string of random punctuation, but trust me: Four years from now, when you need to type this password in to your smart TV, you're gonna regret it.

Note: Before you click through to see this image, you must whisper a promise to the screen: "I will not reply to Andi with spoilers for any of the games mentioned, not even vague ones"

I'm spending the next month in medical recovery, and I'm at severe risk of just writing Rust the whole time and inhibiting the recovery process. So I'm like "what if I just flopped on a couch and spent the entire time playing video games".

Repost from todon.eu/@marcohackney/1159923 with ALT text added. Unified chargers, free roaming, travel, study and work everywhere in the EU, simple bank transfers with SEPA and Wero. EU makes life better. It' definitely not GoodEnough™ in all parts.Work remains to be done. And that's worth doing!

Originally from a Facebook post by the EU Commission, ALT text added by me.

Left side: YES, the EU regulates a lot, followed by a picture of wall warts with different connectors. Right side: BUT now one charger for almost all devices, followed by a picture of one wall wart with a USB-C cable.Left side: YES, the EU can be complex at times, followed by a picture of the Schumann building in Brussels with two European flags. Right side: BUT free EU roaming really is not. Followed by a picture f a smartphone showing that roaming is enabled.Left side: YES, borders still exist, followed by a map showing the EU countries. Right side: BUT you can travel, work and study in 27 countries wit the same rights, followed by a picture of 4 young people of different skin colours, term in arm smiling.Left side: YES, the EU regulates banks a lot, followed by a picture of the Euro currency symbol in front of of the ECB, European Central Bank in Frankfurt. Right side: BUT sending your money in Europe now takes seconds – not days, followed by a picture of someone holding a smartphone with the message on screen "Payment Successful".
