You ever think about how wild it is that modern humans have existed for like 300k+ years, and for approximately all of that time precisely zero of them had any idea how chemistry actually worked, but meanwhile your body is made of literally trillions of cells that somehow understand and remember everything you eat, so they're able to translate a weird very specific micronutrient deficiency into a food craving without you consciously being any the wiser?
E.g. a story my mom often tells is that when she was pregnant, she suddenly had a craving for pickled herring, despite ordinarily not liking fish.
On the surface this is just a random anecdote but the implications about how your body works are kinda staggering

Last night's full moon, shot on an iPhone with 8x zoom. It's shocking how quickly the moon moves in the sky. It was only there for a few moments, then it hid behind the tall building.
The tallest building to the right is at Yonge and Bloor, the shorter buildings closer to me are Honest Ed's at Bathurst and Bloor. The pigeons are the permanent residents of my street corner.

It sounds like I should plan on walking to Cedarvale subway for the rest of the winter, unless the TTC keeps the Eglinton 32 bus running even after the Crosstown officially opens. It's not too far for me (Dufferin & Eglinton roughly) and the exercise does me good in the winter, but it irritates me anyway. We deserve better.
Since Metrolinx is involved in the Ontario Line, I expect that to be an utter disaster too.

@draco드라코 진짜 멸공세대라면 저희 부모님 정도 세대일텐데 그쪽은 정말 드물더라구요. 당시 정부에 대해 비판적 시각을 가지는거랑은 별개로 민주주의랑 자본주의를 (공산/사회주의랑 독재도) 구분해서 생각 못하는 경우가 태반이고...
그 아래 세대인 저희는 평화분위기 속에서 저걸 비판적으로 생각한 세대인데도 은근히 구분해서 생각하는 사람들이 생각보다 잘 없어요.
근데 지금은 다시 한번 더 돌아서 저희 세대를 비판적으로 생각하는 세대가 들어온 타임이니...
@novaProfessor Nova @draco드라코 제 생각에는 우리나라 정치 및 교육 상황을 생각했을때 엑스세대에 해당하는 사람들이 그냥 변종, 아웃라이어 였던 게 아닌가 싶습니다. 교육이든 미디어든, 메카시즘이 아직도 판치는 곳에서 운좋게 상식을 터득한 듯. 그렇게 된 데에는 이 세대가 어른이 될 때쯤 학생운동했던 분들이 세상보는 관점을 이끌어준 것도 분명한 작용이 있었을 것 같습니다.
