Yes, the list of negotiating points is tougher than it would have been without the absolute outrage from folks like us. And sure, it is hard for establishment figures like Jeffries and Schumer to propose the sort of sweeping personnel changes that are in fact a precondition of changing these agencies.

But with a lawless Executive branch and a Congress that has abdicated meaningful oversight, much stronger measures have to be what Democrats bargain for. 5/5

upcoming fediverse events

Liaizon Wakest @wakest@hackers.pub

This curated collection of global Fediverse events showcases the rapid expansion and technical diversification of the decentralized social web throughout 2026. Covering a wide range of activities from local meetups in Montreal and Berlin to large-scale international gatherings like DWeb Camp and FediDay, the schedule emphasizes core themes of digital sovereignty, protocol development, and public institution integration. Hello CoSocial.ca! Just joined this server. I've been on Mastodon since 2017, on different servers. I'm also currently at hcommons.social/deck/@chendric (though I may migrate from there to here soon to transfer followers).

I'm in Vancouver, BC, where I work as a philosophy professor (on leave at the moment). See my bio for stuff I post/boost about and am interested in and passionate about. I also sometimes do Daily Creates and (almost) daily photos over on Flickr and sometimes on Pixelfed.

"Trans women have no advantage in women's sports, studies confirm this result"

A bunch of weird people: "nuh uh, science says otherwise!"

What do these tools think a "study" is and what do they think "science" is.
