It's now been 1 1/2 weeks since Apple removed my review of the #Loops app on the Apple Store. I have an escalated customer request with a personal contact to have it reinstated, and they're "actively working on the case" since a week.

I've already quoted a nice little recent post by the @EUCommissionEuropean Commission in my communication with them, where the EC pointed out that "In Europe, you have the right to challenge content moderation decisions taken by platforms.". Just to be clear, there was _no_ way to specifically challenge the decision - the link in the email sent out by Apple went to the general customer service who have no insight or access to the content moderation team and decisions. I had to fight to get to where my case is now.

I will take this all the way through the legal system unless they get their act together. I used to be supportive of #Apple back in the day, but no more.

Hi, new followers! Seems like a good time for a re-introduction.

I'm Hong Minhee (洪 民憙), a software engineer based in Seoul. My pronouns are they/them.

I build tools for the fediverse. Fedify is an ActivityPub server framework in TypeScript, Hollo is a single-user microblogging server (what you're reading this on), and BotKit is a framework for making ActivityPub bots. I care a lot about making federation more accessible to developers, which, as my recent JSON-LD rant probably made clear, sometimes means wrestling with parts of the spec I have complicated feelings about.

I'm a free/open source software person through and through, and a socialist, which informs how I think about tech. Lately I've been thinking a lot about LLMs. My position is probably not what you'd expect from either camp: I think the problem isn't the technology itself but the enclosure of the commons. I wrote about this at length here if you're curious: Histomat of F/OSS: We should reclaim LLMs, not reject them.

Outside of software, I have a long-running interest in CJK languages and writing systems. I'm always happy to talk about Chinese characters, Korean orthography, or the weird corners of Unicode where these things intersect.

2. it's also in its infancy.

3. we don't know yet how or if it connects to the web.

4. the web is 100% our #1 priority.

5. so we're going to wait.

6. for now firefox is a no-ai browser.

7. we won't include ai until we know why.

8. and then it will be opt-in.

9. and we will continue to make firefox the best web browser.

The only adjustment I'd make to the guide is when you're setting up the encrypted swap. Do you use the same password as the main encrypted ZFS? Or does it matter?
