Junge Menschen werden in Kärnten immer weniger, weil die Geburten stark zurückgehen. Das trifft jetzt schon den Wehr- und Zivildienst. In Zukunft wird sich das laut einer Untersuchung des Familienministeriums noch verstärken. Auch die jetzt schon angespannte Personalsituation im Pflege- und Sozialbereich wird schwieriger.

In Hackerberg (Bezirk Güssing) tobt seit mehr als zwei Jahren ein Streit darüber, ob Straßennamen eingeführt werden sollen. Eine geplante Volksabstimmung ist im Juli 2025 aus juristischen Gründen noch gescheitert. Am heutigen Sonntag findet diese nun statt.

I wished more media was writing not just about how the "AI" buildout increases prices but actively bars people from building their own independent infrastructures.
"AI" is not just poisoning the infosphere but taking away your ability to build alternatives. In the end only Big Tech Cloud and the way it's often used against the users is left.

Interesting tidbit from fabiensanglard.net/quake_pc/in:

"France only really got access to the Internet many years later, in 1999, when AOL came with its 99 Frcs/monthly unlimited plan."

For comparison, in Poland you could call the TPSA (national telco) access number 0202122 since May of 1996. It was priced the same as a local telephone call. Something like 0.19 zł per 3 minutes, or 6 at evening / night. There were tray apps counting how long you have till the next "impulse".
