The @bsd_nl and @EuroBSDCon Pretix instances have been updated, slightly prior to the update announcement. If you were in the process of ordering tickets, my sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

It was vital that the update was installed fast because of a vulnerabity: Security release 2026.1.1 of pretix - therefore I updated as soon as the release was pushed to Pypi.

I write these words in utter despair over what's happening here.
The situation is catastrophic, and life has become a living hell.
Prices are skyrocketing, and the bombing never stops.
I was injured in my body and leg while trying to secure food for my family.
I urgently need medical treatment, but the conditions are more than I can bear.
Any support, however small, could save us and give us some hope. 🙏

‘A country pulled in opposite directions’: destruction and hope in Ukraine – in pictures

Photographer Robin Hinsch insists that Lonely Are All the Bridges is not a war book – it’s a portrait of a society being torn apart and the human threads trying to hold it together.

Stovky lidí v Moskvě od rána přinášejí květiny na hrob ruského opozičníka Alexeje Navalného. Zemřel před dvěma lety. Uctili ho i zahraniční velvyslanci, včetně toho českého. Hřbitov hlídají jednotky ruské Národní gardy.
ℹ️ Francie, Velká Británie, Německo, Nizozemsko a Švédsko o víkendu obvinili ruský stát, že Navalného nechal otrávit ve vězení. Dokazovat to mají laboratorní analýzy vzorků z těla opozičního politika. Kreml obvinění popřel.

The job of engineers is not to deploy some technology but to build robust, reliable and sustainable (in all meanings of that word) solutions for real world problems based on requirements directly derived from people's needs. Even for an engineer technology comes second at best.

It’s World Hippo Day, so make some room for one of Earth’s largest animals! Because this gigantic herbivore can reach weights of ~8,000 lbs (3,600 kg), you might think you could outrun a hippo. But you’d be wrong: A hippo (Hippopotamus amphibius) can charge as fast as 30 mph (48.3 km/h)! That’s faster than an Olympic sprinter.

Found throughout parts of East, West, and Central Africa, this mammal spends the majority of its time in water, inhabiting rivers and lakes. Hippos graze under the cover of darkness, emerging from their watery domain to consume an average of 88 lbs (40 kg) of food each night. Fun fact: A group of hippos is called a bloat.
