@adafruit@fosstodon.org as a woman I am offended that you'd compare the actual bullshit our foremothers faced under sexism to people pushing back against AI, a "service" that's buggy, harmful, ecologically damaging, and being used as a tool in class warfare to push people out of their jobs, something that disproportionately happens to women and minorities first.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

@adafruit

Not every tool is good
One of my heatguns was recalled for fire risk
I sent it in
It was a bad tool
LLMs, Gemini included, are also bad tools

If I had to double check my cake mix for poison every single time I used it I wouldn't use that cake mix
Or eat a cake made from it

You're failing to recognize WHY people are rejecting LLMs and things made with it

They're bad tools

If a robot vacuum cleaner does a good job but has a 1% chance of eating my cat it's not allowed in my house

I've been making .iso copies of all my DVDs so I can finally throw away the physical media which has been rotting away for years.

Curiously I can't copy the BFI (British Film Institute) DVDs with the tools I have even though they haven't started the rot yet. In fact, they seem designed to cause maximal damage to my DVD drive by causing the read arm to repeatedly slam against the ends of its range. Nasty stuff!

This is truly glorious from in their "Introduction to Github" course.

I don't know why Tim is working in the opposite direction, but I can see that he never once "morges" his code back into develop, let alone doing it "continvoucly"

Update:

It looks as though after 4-5 months the page has been updated, but if you want to see the image in situ still then the way back machine has you covered.

A visual representation of what should be the GitFlow process, showing how changes move from feature branches, to develop, release, and master. The diagram is a mess of arrows with some pointing in the wrong directions, and with multiple AI induced sentences such as "Bugfixes from rel, branch may be continvoucly morged back into develop", and no, that's honestly what is says

KLAXXON! issue 4 "Airwaves and Airplanes" is out! Good grief that's taken a while! Anyway in this issue we have a beginners tutorial for the fabulous @gnuradio we also get started with which is 's vehicle sketchbook and it's rounded out with a look at a new @FreeCAD workbench, Detessellate which helps reverse engineer Mesh to files. We've also tweaked a few things on the website! sourcemag.co.uk/

The cover of SOURCE magazine issue 4. The magazine text colour is yellow and the diagonal issue unique image across the diagonal is a screenshot of a airplane geometry in OpenVSP and opensource application by NASA.

I don't ship updates. I ship upgrades.

Loops beta testers watched me rebuild an app from the ground up - cleaner, faster, with a compose and comment experience much more polished and refined.

Pixelfed app (v4) is the same story. Every pain point addressed. Every rough edge smoothed out.

This is what happens when the people building the app actually use it, and listen to your feedback.

Better. In. Every. Way. 🔥

You may not agree, but this is what peak Swift concurrency looks like.

By combining Swift's isolation tools with Swift's ownership tools we can encode a high level of safety into our applications without blocking our code and without unnecessary allocations.

How many of you put the shebang line "#!/usr/bin/env python3" at the top of your Python scripts? And you chmod the script, right? Or do you just run `python3 script.py`

Again many neo-Nazis at “Day of Honour”: Budapest police suppress anti-fascist protest and record personal details

‚At the annual “Day of Honour” in Budapest, thousands of neo-Nazis once again took part in an “escape march”. One counter-protest was able to take place, while another, including a press conference, was stifled by the police.

On Saturday, several thousand European right-wing extremists once again marched 60 kilometres for the “Day of Honour” from Buda Castle in the Hungarian capital to the village of Szomor.

It is the highlight of the international neo-Nazi gathering initiated in Budapest in 1997 by the “Hungarian National Front”. This “escape march” commemorates the fallen soldiers of the Hungarian fascist Arrow Cross militia who fled the capital in 1945 ahead of the Red Army….‘
