Huge advance for non-algorithmic based (hierarchical) feeds, almost no AI-written posts.
Both LinkedIn and Threads suffer immensely from AI-posts, where I see none, zero, on Mastodon. As in, I know there are some there probably, but no one is trying to “game” the system, since there is no “system to be gamed”.
I honestly think the age of social media isn’t over, but the age of algorithmic social media is. At least, it feels unsustainable.

The UK has announced plans to fast-track legislation requiring “age verification for VPN use”. The correct term, however, is not age verification but identity verification.
A law like this would require everyone to identify themselves in order to use a VPN. This would pose a risk to whistleblowers, violate human rights, and represent yet another step toward an authoritarian society.

That’s why he was surprised by the statement, which said that Colbert had been provided “legal guidance” that broadcasting the interview could trigger the equal time rule.

I don’t fully understand the motivation to use LLMs to write blog posts. The loss of personal voice is so striking that it immediately rings alarm bells in my head. You can fact check the output although even that is spotty but you can’t inject the soul back.
And if you stop writing yourself, what makes you think you still can? And what is it that makes you - you?
