pkg.go.dev and the go toolset only have 1.5.1 as the latest, perhaps because you haven't released it yet, but perhaps because of the terrible UX method of Go module versioning? :D

I’m so proud of how polished the Loops platform is, across web and mobile apps!

Android does still need some work, but being able to provide a consistent experience across web and native is something to be proud of.

I remember how angry some people were that Loops required an app for everything in the early days, and thought I’d never open source it.

Now you can do everything on the web, including client-side transcoding with our gorgeous responsive design.

Never give up!

Fast KV Compaction via Attention Matching

Scaling language models to long contexts is often bottlenecked by the size of the key-value (KV) cache. In deployed settings, long contexts are typically managed through compaction in token space via summarization. However, summarization can be highly lossy, substantially harming downstream performance. Recent work on Cartridges has shown that it is possible to train highly compact KV caches in latent space that closely match full-context performance, but at the cost of slow and expensive end-to-end optimization. This work describes an approach for fast context compaction in latent space through Attention Matching, which constructs compact keys and values to reproduce attention outputs and preserve attention mass at a per-KV-head level. We show that this formulation naturally decomposes into simple subproblems, some of which admit efficient closed-form solutions. Within this framework, we develop a family of methods that significantly push the Pareto frontier of compaction time versus quality, achieving up to 50x compaction in seconds on some datasets with little quality loss.

If you're on LinkedIn and are thinking about verifying your account with them, maybe read this first. It walks through LinkedIn's privacy disclosure to identify 17 companies that may receive and process the data you submit, including name, passport photo, selfie, facial geometry, NFC data chip, national ID #, DoB, email, phone number, address, IP address, device type, MAC address, language, geolocation etc. Unsurprisingly, it seems the biggest recipients are US-based AI companies.

Self-hosters left vulnerable to XSS vuln due to second-class Docker support

Ghost has again publicized a vulnerability in their software without a published Docker image without a published Docker image which contains the fix. Ghost has published 6.19.1 with a SQL injection fix, but the most recent Docker Official Image is at 6.18.2. After this happened last time, I started collaborating with @ngeorger on a more secure alternate image and there’s now one that he created and I’ve successfully tested with 6.19.0. Also, ich muss Microslop irgendwie ja auch danken. Im JuZ steht noch die Migration weg von W10 aus. Dadurch, dass W11 inzwischen ganz offensichtlich nutzerfeindlich, Datenschutz-verletztend und unsicher ist, dampft sich die Diskussion sehr angenehm auf W10 IOT LTSC als Notnagel, oder endlich der Schritt Richtung Linux ein. Und ich werde letzteres ganz, ganz dringend anraten. Mal schauen ob wir das hinbekommen, auch wenn Linux für ein paar Mitarbeiter wenige Jahre vor Rente knackig wird.
