What is Hackers' Pub?

Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

Smart glasses freak me out. They should freak you out too, since being analyzed (and who knows what else they do) by them without consent is a huge breach of our privacy.

Here's a nice Android-app which tells if someone is stalking you with them. Then you can take a look around and give'em some harsh words 😁

I respect the GameTank project's "moxie" but $299 is kind of a lot considering I can (did) get a Mister for half that and I can also plug a $30 ice40 FPGA directly into VGA and synthesize a simple riscv chip on it. Just like. I don't know. I don't know.

Anyway the GameTank project got funded, so if you are able to budget two hundred and ninety nine US dollars for a non-fantasy fantasy console, you have 24 hours to get in on that first manufacturing batch

Apple should release a Mac maxi. It's essentially the same like a Mac mini (or multiple of them!), but housed in a larger case that allows for storage (or compute) expansion. You could inject more compute by slotting in more Mac mini mainboards/or just whole mini's (similar to a NeXTcube). And have space for spinning disks or M2's. It wouldn't necessarily provide more performance, i.e. it is specifically not a Mac Pro, but expansion.
I know, it won't happen. But I bet it would sell.

There's already copyright case law regarding llm generated text.

Judges have ruled it is not human authored and therefore not subject to copyright.

The latest one i read specifically said that you must specifically state which portions were generated and exclude those sections from claimed copyright.

So "human put llm code chunks together" is likely only protected for the arrangement of the chunks and not any of the code itself. (Not a lawyer, making reasonable guess off of lots and lots of copyright knowledge and case law for things like remixing and collage work.)
