After a very busy start to the month I found a little bit of time in a couple of evenings over the last week and managed to throw something together. Not the most original piece but frankly the first aim art wise this year is to get making things again with some regularity and get the muscle memory back. I get the strong impression that early, learning developers are better served by the tools offered with fantasy game consoles than by professional dev tools these days.
That impression underscores my belief that good dev tools should optimize for joy, experimentation, discovery, learning, and play *first*, and raw throughput second, if it all.

We're still at the stage where a majority saying "hey, this isn't ok" can still do something. But they all think it's inevitable, so the nexus continues.
