urgent crowdfund/mutual aid for housing

hiya! my partner @sativaknifething :BlobCat_Knife: and i need some help. our lease is up at the end of march, and our medium-to-long term housing plans just fell through! on top of that, our ongoing financial support arrangement is in jeopardy and we can't afford to renew this place for a year without that financial support. so we need to fix up our current place, and find a new place to rent in the next month, and we just don't have the money to make all that happen.

here's what we need help with:

  • move-out fees for our current place
  • repair for normal apartment wear-and-tear
  • move-in fees/deposit for the next place
  • possibly a month or two at an airbnb until we can fine a new place

we don't know how much it's going to be altogether, but it'll definitely be at least a few thousand dollars. we hate asking for this much money on fedi but we're going to end up homeless if this situation isn't resolved properly, so we're exploring every avenue we can for help and resources.

in addition to everything else, @sativaknifething :BlobCat_Knife: is crippled and mentally ill and needs support to get us through this, and i'm currently going through a bad-brain episode and can't give them any real support right now. any words of support, chill one-off conversations, or offers of ongoing friendship from kind strangers would mean the world to em and would really make a difference in our situation. without any support this could turn into a serious health (and housing) crisis for us.

anything anyone can do helps! donations, signal boosts, and i guess i'm available for work if you want to pay me to make you software or a website, or commissions if you want some noobish doodles or pixel art! send me a dm with what you want and how much you're willing to pay and we'll work something out :)

RE: social.coop/@cwebber/116144438

This is a good point Christine is making:
Please do consider whether your use of "they/them" is a habit for how you generically refer to people, or whether it is a lazy way in which you avoid confronting *your* discomfort in using she/her or he/him pronouns to refer to certain people due to their history or presentation

One of the best things I did when I got to SF was open a mailbox at a local business near me. They specialize in paperwork and mail stuff. Not only does this help me with package theft (I ship all high value goods there); when I don’t have the spoons to do things like ‘find the right stamps and box or envelope’, I pay them extra to do it for me. Outsourcing ‘how to get something somewhere’ has saved me so much.

Because they’re also a notary, they know a lot about the local paperwork. I almost threw out a doc that looked like junk to me but she knew that it was an important doc from just seeing the back of it.

Also, there are cats.

AI corporations can't get your money, because most people don't want to pay for that. And they need a lot of money to justify their investment.

So they're going after government contracts, with their powerful network of lobbyists. That way, your government can give them your money anyway. To pay for that, they will very likely cut in public services.

If you don't want that to happen, email or call your government representatives.
