I am, and have been for some time, confused about when it is appropriate to refer to it as the "Czech Republic" and when it is more appropriate to call it "Czechia". My definition of "appropriate" is "were a Czech person to stumble across my writing, what rubric would they prefer I use?"

Can any of the Europeans reading this help me here?

But really, relicensing a GPL codebase to MIT is uninteresting.

Let's do the interesting one, which is: vibe code a "clean room" reimplementation of an entire proprietary codebase! After all, Microsoft released a "shared source" proprietary version of Windows. Now try seeing what happens if you run THAT through the "turn it into public domain" machine

Win-win outcome, no matter how it goes

This case shows how Open Source will die. With anyone just being able to pipe existing code and tests through an LLM and claiming that to be "clean room" (which is hogwash) no licensing can protect your work from being accumulated and monetized by anyone. The commons are actively being shredded in front of our eyes.

Yeah no but okay like, @fasterthanlimeamosโ€˜s Tracey tool is really cool. Iโ€™ve never really worked with specification tools before, and I'm only half-assing things right now.

But like: I see the vision. Especially when working against something that has an existing, established spec this seems incredibly valuable. Honestly wish I'd had this when I was still working on HTTP tooling.

๐Ÿฅ We're happy to announce the location for the next AlpCHI conference!

Following the inaugural version this year, AlpCHI 2028 will be in beautiful Constance, Germany at the Lake Constance! It is situated <50 km away from the Sรคntis (2501 m above sea level) in Switzerland, and thus qualifies as a suitable AlpCHI location ๐Ÿ˜‰

Stay tuned for more information!

An areal photo of Konstanz, Germany showing the city center and the Rhine river. An overlay shows the "AlpCHI 2028" logo on the top right in white. In the center white bold text says "See you at AlpCHI 2028" with thinner text saying "The next AlpCHI will happen in Konstanz, Germany. Stay tuned for more information."

Insights from our biannual townhall that are too good not to share! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ”ฅ

It's amazing to see all our social channels growing but especially here on Mastodon!

The Mastodon CEO, @mellifluousboxFelix Hlatky even said we "hacked the non-algorithm" because you share our post so much! โค๏ธโค๏ธ

Hanna and Lena standing and pointing at a presentation displaying that Tuta's Mastodon followers increased by 77% between January 2025 - December 2025.
