In the whole Proton situation, there are a lot of mixed equities and real problems surfacing, but not all of them are appropriately ascribed to Proton.

Let's put aside for the moment that the FBI sucks. They do! Under the US MLAT with Switzerland, is it Proton's role to deny the request from the US government?

Is it not; it is the Swiss government's role to do so if they wish. If they do so, they endanger a treaty that has been in place since 1977, while also signaling to other countries with similar agreements that their word is mud—or at best, contingent on them liking the current government of the ally country.

Maybe not an awesome tradeoff to stick it to the Feebs.

And Proton, like them or not, has been clear about their position on honoring Swiss law from the jump. And should they leave Switzerland for another EU country, it will be that state's laws they abide by.

You may contend that Proton should deny lawful (note: not necessarily ethical) requests from their government to protect their users. That's a position you can take, but I don't believe it has ever been Proton's. Their primary privacy offer is end-to-end encryption between email addresses that support it, and on-disk encryption of your data, along with a VPN. They make anonymous accounts possible, but do not guarantee any data you give them will be withheld from lawful requests from Swiss authorities, which is what happened here.

AI shows up in the world in some pretty negative ways, especially around misinformation, slop, and spam, and dealing with those issues in a social network are increasingly a focus of my time. I don't have a hard time understanding why a lot of people are suspicious of it as a result.

Already effective 2026/3/5 18:00 ROK citizens are now legally banned from visiting IR. Neighbouring IQ (incl. Kurdistan) and AF have already been off limits since 2007, as do SY(2011~; Golan, and only Golan, became exempt effective 2026/1/16), YE(2011~), and LY(2011/3~12, 2014~).

주요 도시별 기온은 서울 1~6℃, 대전 2~8℃, 대구 6~11℃, 광주 3~9℃, 부산 9~13℃, 제주 7~9℃이며 북서기류를 따라 유입된 랴오닝 일대의 황사 잔여물로 인해 아침에는 수도권 일대에 미세먼지 '나쁨' 상태가 예상되지만, 밤이 되면서 트라프가 정북향으로 이동, 청정한 바람이 내려오면서 점차 대기질은 개선되겠습니다. 그래도 오늘동안은 여전히 대기가 깨끗하진 않으니 출/퇴근 시에는 마스크를 챙겨주시는 것이 좋겠습니다. 특히 내일은 활발한 복사냉각, 북풍의 공습으로 아침기온이 큰 폭으로 떨어지니 이 점도 유의해주세요.

하지만 완전히 봄이 찾아온다고 하긴 힘듭니다. 낮 기온은 따뜻해지지만 아침기온은 활발한 복사냉각으로 더 내려갈 수 있거든요. 그래서 당분간 환절기성 질환에 큰 주의가 필요하다고 생각됩니다. 그러면 오늘 상세 날씨 보시겠습니다. 일기 예보상으로는 비가 있지만 이제 비는 거의 그쳤습니다. 비가 온다 해봐야 0.1mm 미만이라 거의 무시할 수준이겠습니다. 하지만 한대수렴대가 끌고오는 한기로 인해 9일에는 눈이 내릴 가능성이 열려있습니다. 1cm 정도의 눈, 5mm 안팎의 비가 예상되는데요. 바람이 건조하다보니 잠깐정도에 그치겠습니다.

이 추위가 며칠 이어진다고 전망하는 것은 현재 동해상에서 형성된 저층수렴대와 상층 저기압의 결합이 예상되기 때문인데요. 현재 동해상에 있는 저층의 한대수렴대가 폭탄저기압으로 발달, 후면 한기 이류를 강화시키며 대기 상층과 하층 모두 차가운 바람을 끌고 내려올 수 있기 때문입니다. 다만 고기압 블로킹이 해소된 상태라 절리성 저기압으로 변모해 긴 시간 한파를 끌고 온다기보다, 순간적으로 지나가는 트라프형 단파 추위가 될 가능성이 큽니다. 짧고 굵은 꽃샘추위가 일어나는거죠. 3월 16일 KIM 모델에 따르면 날이 풀릴 가능성이 큽니다.

오늘 기압배치부터 보시겠습니다. 랴오닝 인근의 500hPa 상공에 -39℃의 한랭핵 하나가 관측됩니다. 북쪽의 제트 흐름에서 떨어져나온 깊은 기압골입니다. 절리성 저기압으로 발전할 가능성이 보이는데 아직은 완전히 북극 제트에서 분리되지 않아 대기 상층의 차가운 공기가 기압골을 타고 깊숙히 남하하고 있습니다. 며칠 전 있었던 성층권 돌연승온 이후 제트기류가 크게 사행하는 것 역시 관측되는데요. 이런 크게 굽어진 (사행이 크게 발달한) 로스비 파동 패턴에서는 한기 펄스 남하의 가능성이 굉장히 높아집니다. 오늘 추위 역시 이 때문이죠.

26/3/6 날씨 이것저것 어제 내린 비로 땅이 제법 식었습니다. 아침기온은 비구름에 의한 보호로 생각보다 덜 떨어졌지만 내일부터는 비구름이 걷히면서 맑아지겠는데요. 내일을 시작으로 다음 주 수요일 정도까지는 아침기온이 0℃에서 영하권을 왔다갔다 하는 쌀쌀한 날씨가 예상됩니다. 그 뒤부터는 조금씩 기온이 다시 회복되겠는데요. 즐거워야 할 금요일이지만 미국과 이란의 분쟁이 중동전쟁으로 이어질 것이라는 불안감이 확산, 여기저기서 쎄함이 느껴지는데요. 결코 즐겁지만은 않을 것 같은 주말이 될 것 같다는 걱정이 드는 하루입니다.

I noticed that GitHub will show “All checks have passed” on a PR and enable the merge button, between the time the PR is visible in the UI and the time it decides to schedule the workflow. I only noticed b/c my workflows take a long time and I was shocked that the PR was already mergeable.

I wonder if this means one can bypass requirements by network partitioning the PR system from Actions runners/control plane and/or otherwise prevent workflows from being scheduled.

Or, maybe just a UI bug.
