If BBC’s reporting is correct, what we are seeing in Iran right now is the same playbook Israel used in Gaza. They aren’t sticking to military targets. They are targeting society, and the country’s culture and heritage. To what extent US targeting is following their lead is unclear, but hospitals, schools, historic landmarks, and civil infrastructure are being destroyed with the clear intent of collective punishment. It is abhorrent, heinous, and criminal.

“The sinking of the Dena seems to be part of Hegseth’s new policy of ignoring ‘stupid rules of engagement’ and ‘punching them while they’re down,’ and it raises questions of what the Trump administration would say if a country like Iran attacked an American ship it knew was unarmed.”

Wondering what to do rather than buy a missile or bomb today?

You could feed all the region's hungry children for the cost of this war

Or cure a disease

Or buy this €30,000 🪗 instead of a drone

Test your browser's fingerprint and weep.

coveryourtracks.eff.org/

In my case, "at least 18.2 bits of information", but that seems to be an underestimate based on being unique amongst the recent visitors (~300k = 2^18). If they were independent, the information sources available on me would sum to about 75 bits).

Less than 8 bits of information with the Tor browser.

Browser manufacturers should offer a reduced fingerprint option (rather than only trying to block fingerprinting sites).

GTK 4.22.0, the first stable release of GTK 4.22 is now available!

Lots of changes happened in this development cycle:

- a new SVG-based format for symbolic icons, including state-based animations
- GtkSvg, a paintable that renders (animated) SVG efficiently
- GtkAccessibleHypertext, an interface for accessible object containing links
- GtkPopoverBin is a new widget that you can use to show a popover menu on a widget

LLMs in FOSS

it is incredibly validating to me that prominent foss people who for decades embodied and reinforced the false idea that "all that matters is code" are now predictably falling into the LLM slop fad because, surprise fucking surprise, they never gave a single shit about people and simply rode the movement to have a space where they could whitewash their morality-unencumbered nonsense.
