Jay Graber just stepped down as CEO of Bluesky PBC and appointed Toni Schineider as "interim" CEO. He is a Silicon Valley old timer, listing on his resume as being Automattic's founding CEO and has been partner at a VC firm since 2005 that lists Ring (the surveillance company you pay to let them spy on your neighborhood with) and a few AI companies as highlights.

is lucky to have Toni as an interim CEO. He was the first CEO I ever actually enjoyed working under. He focussed on how the product is only as good as the employees are allowed to be.

If you use LLMs, this isn't a surprise.

> A prevailing concern is that generative AI encourages people to outsource their thinking to machines, which weakens understanding — known as "cognitive offloading." Through class, I realized this worry holds weight only if AI is treated like an omniscient oracle. When students are encouraged to experiment with and critique large language models (LLMs), AI becomes an on-demand study partner with benefits and drawbacks.

Hiya! Anyone in the SF Bay Area/Remote need a cool programmer for your team? I've been messing with computers for over 30 years now, I can program anything with bits, and I've got a lot of experience with all sorts of different systems, environments, and languages.
I've done mostly CI/CD/devops/SRE stuff recently, but I also do embedded software, some hardware, primary development, tooling, etc.

Congrats to @thisismissem.social@bsky.brid.gyEmelia for the well deserved financial support. She contributes across atproto and ActivityPub, & with the IETF OAuth standards. FedCM is a W3C web platform API that “allows users to login to websites with their federated accounts in a privacy preserving manner”

Emelia has already done so much great standards and auth work behind the scenes, which benefits not just atproto/atmosphere, but also ActivityPub, Solid, and other social web ecosystems. really excited about the potential for FedCM to make login flows slick and competitive with Google/Apple/Meta
