What is Hackers' Pub?

Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

I work with an NPO which currently uses Open Collective and likely would vote to stop using Open Collective if this level of corporate doxxing is required to interact with their platform.

Don't dare open source hackers, we can switch/build services in a heartbeat.

We are not trapped like teenagers hooked on discord, we can simply leave and never look back if forced.

Sorry to break it to you folks, high oil prices is what Trump and his donors want. They make lots of money from Texas oil wells and natural gas. It's not a contradiction, it's just who he's trying to make happy right now.

Fun sign of just how bad a term "metroidbrania" is: I've seen Öoo get called it at least twice recently because it's a "metroidvania with puzzles". Which legitimately feels like a more natural reading of that term than what it's supposed to "really" mean. kotaku.com/igf-2026-winners-pe

I am so proud of this project my org @EqualRightsAdvocates is launching today.

At a time when our government is trying to brutally smash community bonds between neighbors, it's more important than ever to connect with one another. We connect to share, support, understand, and protect each other.

*For All of Us* is a project I conceived during this Trump administration's first six months. It's a project dedicated to amplifying the stories of the people resisting and surviving this government's destruction. It's a record of neighbors and friends fighting back together.

We launch today with Ayn+Patch, two members of the LGBTQI+ community in a purple state: Michigan. Their story is about queer resilience.

Please listen and share.
More stories will be dropping every 2 weeks.

You can also find us on Apple Podcast, RSS, and our site.

RE: mas.to/@trendsbot/116211553284

When USSR was crumbling, factories were also paying workers in products they manufactured.

This is AI bubble companies trying to print own money. Printing your own money only works if you find a way to make it necessary. That's what taxes do, for example (recommended reading: David Graeber's "Debt").

Here:

👉 "printing money" part is paying employees in tokens

👉 "taxes" part is requiring employees to use AI in their day to day work (thus making tokens necessary)

#Poland - president Karol Nawrocki has vetoed the legislation that will allow the country to access its €43.7 billion #SAFE programme. Prime minister Donald Tusk’s goverment insists it has a Plan B to access the EU funding in spite of the veto. Tusk and Nawrocki are technically both Polish, but they represent two competing political parties which had been traditionally much more important division than some silly similarities such as same language, state or security interests.

My wife - a former elementary teacher - and her friend - an art historian - just launched their Kickstarter and I'm genuinely proud of them.

They made a children's art book where a single line runs through twelve real masterpieces - kids follow it and actually look at the art. A lovely way to build art appreciation without it feeling like a lesson.
