the only way you could possibly think people need to "learn how to use ai" is if you've literally evaporated the last part of your brain that learns how to learn to do real things by using ai to do things
How about i maintain the skills ive learnt over my lifetime that everyone using ai are not learning and then if there ever comes a time i have to use the torment nexus ill simply stop trying to kick away its tentacles that are wrapping slowly around my feet with its whispers of "Hey would you like me to help you with that? its easy! heressss how to ussse me"

Just had a small, probably-never-going-to-happen thought: what if Lobsters implemented ActivityPub? My account there is hongminhee, so I'd get a @hongminhee@lobste.rs actor, and tags like #rust or #programming could be Group actors you could follow from Mastodon or anywhere else. Comments would federate as Notes, so you could boost a thread you found interesting without ever leaving your home instance.
The tricky part is that Lobsters is invite-only by design, and that culture would be hard to reconcile with an open fediverse. You'd probably want to keep writes gated behind a Lobsters account while making reads public. Lemmy did something similar, though it still struggled with spam after federation. Anyway, it's open source, so maybe someone with more time than me will take a crack at it someday.

Fun! I just implemented vector search for my Mastodon instance. Now, I can search the posts in my instance (about 11 million of them) in a split second using semantic queries. It seems to work very well so far. The next step is create semantic timelines rather than relying on unreliable hashtags.
