I cannot emphasize enough that this literally happened. The Khitan deployed Princess Yanyan to the field, she defeated the Song, and announced that she was pardoning all her Song prisoners-of-war because a girl should be nice on her birthday. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xiao_Yanyan
