YAG(Y3Al5O12)은 고출력 고체레이저 매질용으로 개발된 물질입니다! 2중 밴드를 가지고 있어서 파장 532nm의 녹색 가시광선 대역 빛(레이저 포인터용)과 1064nm의 근적외선 빛(피부과, 안과시술)에 사용해요. 저는 물질합성하면서 맨날 원통형 잉곳만 보다가 보석으로 처음 접했을때으 충격이 잊혀지지가 않네요! 이걸 누가 빼돌려서 세공할 생각을 했지(?!) 보라색 야그가 Nd도핑이구요, 노란색은 Ce도핑, 분홍색은 Er 도핑, 그리고 사용하신 시안색은 Yb도핑입니다. 가시광선대에 반응을 해서 형광빛이 돈다고 느껴지는 거야요
