But on the ground, it’s a very different story.
There are still reports of repression, arbitrary arrests, and forced disappearances. The calm we’re seeing is not peace, it’s tense silence.

People did not flood the streets to celebrate Maduro’s capture, not because they didn’t want to, but because armed colectivos are still present, still watching, still threatening.

The fear didn’t disappear with Maduro.
