I was rejecting gender as a concept as a small child, not because I was trans, or even particularly NB, but because I thought it was stupid.
Gendered clothing.
βLittle girls do this, little boys do this.β
Mothers care for the house and kids. Men do the grunt work and the βreal jobs,β although all of my parents worked and did yard work (not so much housework though.)
Men get one default title, but women get one based on whether they are legally attached to a man. This one hit me at age 8 because one teacher did not allow Ms. in her classroom and I was baffled why this would be important.
Later, we knew gay people and I wondered why anyone cared who they were kissing.
Iβm perfectly fine with my gender assignment and being a mother (although NOBODY should have to be) but I still wish we, as a society, would reject the concept, or at least importance of gender.
