Microsoftの研究機関であるMicrosoft Researchが、フェムト秒レーザーを用いてガラス内部にデータを記録する「Project Silica」で、家庭用のキッチン用品にも使われるホウケイ酸ガラスを使って長期間データを保存できる技術を開発したと発表しました。研究結果は学術誌のNatureに掲載されており、Microsoft Researchはこれまで研究段階だったProject Silicaが、実用化に向けて大きく前進することになると述べています。
