One of the small things which is annoying about being self-employed is a lack of travel budget.

Just had to turn down a speaking opportunity in Japan because the flights are just too expensive.

Not a problem for well-funded companies. But almost impossible for small businesses.

Sadly, their travel bursary couldn't cover it. Understandable, but a bit dispiriting.
