The FFS has increased my ethnic ambiguity like 5-fold. I legit look like my cousin Alicia, who is Black with features carried from her Japanese granparents. It is so wild.

I was already super ambiguously ethnic. Studying Chinese, the professor asked if I had Mongolian heritage. In Desert Storm, Arabic people would speak to me in Arabic. Greek people think I’m Greek. Hawaiians think I’m Hawaiian. A Chamorro family once asked my last name so they could know where I came from on Guam.

And, like, the swelling is not down and it’s only been a week but at this point even I don’t know what the fuck I am.

I keep staring in the mirror like “okay she’s definitely not Black or German or anything like that, but she’s definitely something…”
