Pixelfed won't block blog posts, text-only posts or long form content, rather we should hide them by default, and give users the ability to choose the level of federation support they desire.

I believe software level filtering will be useful to most users who want to prioritize photo-centric posts.

It's not my place to enforce restrictions, or admins IMO, it should be up to the user to decide, even with an opinionated default.

@dansupsir dansup there's an important principle here for all fedi software I think - you should federate everything, sure, without protocol-level filtering, but not everything has to make it into the particular UI of a particular bit of software. That's why people will choose one over another. We're not all microblogs.

At the moment, if you follow a mastodon user from Manyfold, sure, you can do it, but you'll get a warning that probably nothing interesting will happen πŸ˜ƒ
