We don't talk enough about the challenges caused by ever-larger SD card sizes.

Older equipment that can only use 2GB or 4GB cards? Difficult to use when the lowest capacities start at 32GB.

Want to backup an image of your single-board computer's OS? The file grows ever larger...

@hackaday Ugh. My Zoom recorder apparently paws through every bit on the SD card when it boots.

If I had a 1G SD card in there, I'd be able to store close to 10 hours of audio.

I never need that. I need a few hours, tops.

But the smallest I can find that works is 32G. It takes something like 4 minutes to boot because of the big SD card.

Smaller capacity ones seem to be factory rejects and sold as a fraud you're unlikely to bother returning because they're so cheap.
