Uspol, politics, health care, trans stuff, request for primary sources, :boost_appreciated:

Long story short, I got a letter last week saying coverage for my gender dysphoria was going to be terminated for next year. Obviously I contacted both the insurance company (whose support staff were just as confused to hear it as I was) as well as the clinic I had been going to to try and help me navigate this. I called again today and the insurance basically said "yeah, it's getting terminated, you can write an appeal letter for exception". I'm... Not confident that will go well, especially given I'm a federal worker right now and... vaguely gestures at administration.

However I also contacted my local governor's office and recently heard back from our democratic senator's staff. I did this bc, as far as I'm aware, it should actually be illegal where I'm at to discriminate based on gender identity for insurance coverage. I'm potentially getting a virtual meeting with my senator's lgbtq+ staff.

Now I'll make no bones about the fact that I kinda really want my needs to get covered, I feel that's understandable enough for anyone. However I also know that there's far more genderqueer folks than just me here who also need this health care.

What I'd like to ask is for ideas, thoughts, sentiments to bring to the discussion. I need ways to illustrate how cisgender folks get particular care that is denied to trans folks to emphasize the discrimination. And also primary sources for data and studies for me to look into as supporting evidence would be greatly appreciated.

I wanna make the best case I can, and convey it as understandably as I can muster. I may not be able to respond to everything immediately, but I'll be reading into everything I'm given as well as doing my own searching around. Thank you all!!
