@overholtJohn Overholt Wow this is incredible! I’ve been researching 19th century missionary periodicals for children. Seeing another one digitized is so exciting. Most of these papers reused wood block illustrations from other periodicals. I’ve been tracing their movements all around the world. Here is an example: the engraving was first created by R. S. Bross for the American Tract Society in NY. It was used in January 1858 edition of The Child’s Paper. Then it was used in Ke Alaula in May 1867. It was re-used by the American Tract Society in the October 1871 edition of Morning Light. In 1875, it was used in 小孩月报 (Xiaohai Yuebao). The last example I’ve found is from the May 1876 edition of Зорница (Zornitsa).

An illustration of an old woman teaching a young woman to knit that was used in five different periodicals. The Child’s Paper January 1858, Ke Alaula 1867, Morning Light October 1871, 小孩月报 (Xiaohai Yuebao) 1875, Зорница (Zornitsa) May 1876.
