AP Thomson’s Titanium Court

One of the most difficult things about trying to describe Titanium Court is the way it defies convention. There are ways in which it is like a match-3. There are ways in which it is like a strategy game. But the end experience is so much more something unique than either of those labels would suggest. And the thing is, it does those things so well that it’s shocking when it bucks them off completely and somehow changes genre just so that it is no longer describable by those terms, and yet – it is still just as compelling. What IS this game?

What I can say about it is that it is both relentlessly funny and relentlessly surprising. It is one of the very few games I’ve played for IGF where I had to actively stop myself from playing any more because I wanted to wait until the game was fully released to see it through. I desperately hope this game gets the attention it deserves, because wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. Even the minimalist art style is constantly leveraged to its advantage, and if you need an example of why both it and the writing are compelling I suggest you go read the steam page.
