The last two years I was fortunate enough to be able to test and use the U.S. Direct File system that was developed by the USDS and 18F.
Of course, since it was a massive threat to a number of highly lucrative for-profit Tax Service providers, it was high on the DOGE list.
As a consequence, the initiative is now dead.
