Felon disenfranchisement question: Do state laws apply to felonies commit in other jurisdictions? Would someone who was convicted of a felony in Maine (which has no felon disenfranchisement law) be barred from voting in Virginia (where felon disenfranchisement is permanent)?
@CarlMuckenhoupt This came up when Trump voted in the 2024 election. https://apnews.com/article/trump-felony-conviction-can-he-vote-b95e7b4c9158d999e8bc89b00fbda911 He was convicted in New York, so he could vote in Florida even though Florida wouldn't normally allow someone with a felony conviction to vote.
