Are you taking vitamin supplements? A warning...

I've been in my relatives' ears about this for a couple of years now, and the info is finally coming out that I'm not just barking mad.

Don't take supplements that include B6. At all.

Yes, B6 is vital to cognitive function, but there is almost zero need to add what you get through your food intake, and taking too much will stuff you up for the rest of your life.

How much is too much? Any more than 2mg per day, which is the maximum anybody needs. More than 10mg per day can lead to peripheral neuropathy. Go over 100mg per day over an extended period (months), and you WILL suffer nerve damage, particularly to sensory nerves (which never recover). Oh, and the brain. Minor point.

So what's the issue? The TGA mandates labelling about B6 and PN, yeah?

The issue is that B6 is added to too many things. It's easy to accumulate too much, especially if you take multiple suppliments and gulp energy drinks.
