The city of Minneapolis in the United States announced in December 2025 the cancellation of funding for the contract with Zencity, a company specialized in surveillance and social analytics technology, following a community pressure campaign that lasted about a year.

The company, whose technologies were developed from the Israeli military intelligence unit 8200, drew widespread criticism due to its links to war crimes in Gaza and concerns over the potential use of its technologies domestically to monitor Black communities in the United States.

The campaign was led by local groups such as Free Palestine Coalition and Jewish Voice for Peace Twin Cities, organizing protests, awareness workshops, and collecting thousands of signatures to halt the contract. On December 16, 2025, the city council decided to amend the budget to cancel the funding, saving approximately $112,500, marking a precedent in the United States for rejecting dealings with companies with military roots involved in war crimes.
