The Director of the Information Department at the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Zaher Al-Wahidi, said that the numbers of births with malformations, abnormal weights, and premature births during 2025 had been shocking in the strip.
He added that the war had been the main cause of these unprecedented cases, which had not existed at this scale before the conflict, particularly in 2022. Women in Gaza had been exposed to dust and gunpowder from rockets, in addition to malnutrition and famine, which had directly affected fetal health.
The spread of sewage and lack of sanitation had increased health risks, and the harsh conditions in the tents had further aggravated health crises for pregnant women.
