UNICEF announced the launch of a wide-scale campaign to return children in Gaza to in-person education after the Israeli war destroyed about 90% of schools in the Gaza Strip, depriving more than 700,000 children of formal education.

Currently, more than 135,000 children benefit from education in over 110 temporary learning centers, and the campaign aims to expand education to reach around 336,000 children by the end of the year.

The campaign involves the Palestinian Ministry of Education and UNRWA, while UNICEF requires funding of 86 million dollars to support its education program in Gaza for 2026.
