Israel's security cabinet approved policy changes that significantly expand Israeli control over the occupied West Bank and accelerate settlement growth, including in sensitive areas such as Hebron.
The measures extend Israeli enforcement into areas under Palestinian Authority control, transfer authority over building permits in Hebron to Israel, and affect the Ibrahimi Mosque.
The Palestinian presidency condemned the move as an attempt to annex the West Bank, a violation of international law and existing agreements, and a threat to holy sites.
