The Gaza Civil Defense reported that 7,820 bodies either completely or partially disappeared due to Israeli airstrikes since October 2023, accounting for roughly 10% of total casualties.
The intensity of the explosives caused bodies to melt or disintegrate in targeted areas, particularly near the blast sites. Civil defense teams confirmed that many remains could not be recovered, with only fragments left in some cases.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health, citing its director-general Munir Al-Bursh, stated that “unknown types” of weapons used in the northern Gaza Strip are causing the complete vaporization of bodies.
