Apple acquired Israeli startup Q.ai for nearly $2 billion, despite the company having no commercial product or revenue.

Q.ai is developing a “silent speech” technology that uses facial micromovements and biometric signals to anticipate words before they are spoken. The founders are former members of elite Israeli military intelligence units and claims that some employees were called up for military service during the Gaza war.

The deal raises ethical, political, and privacy concerns, particularly regarding potential surveillance, military applications, and broader implications for civil liberties.
