I remember in first grade when my teacher told me it was time to learn multiplication. Addition and Subtraction were great, there were simple rules on how to do it, it was easy to understand. So, I ask her, What's the trick, how do you figure multiplication? You have to memorize it, I felt so betrayed! Now I know, you can count it out of you really want to, but that's really not how it's done, you just need to know that 5×6=30. I still don't like this, and probably no one else experienced this quite how I did, but it was incredibly irritating to me.
